1.2 Board of Trustees

The governing body of The University of Tennessee is the Board of Trustees. The board has delegated administrative authority to the president, who exercises this authority through delegation to, and in consultation with, a staff of vice presidents and chancellors. The board has delegated to UT Faculty Senates the authority, subject to the approval of the chief academic officer(s), chancellor(s), the president, and the board itself, to determine general educational objectives and policies at UT and regulations related to those objectives, such as requirements for admission, retention, readmission, graduation, and honors for all degree and certificate programs.
